Last week the CEU Weekly reported that the Roma community in the village of Gyöngyöspata feared attacks and provocation from a rightist group called Vedero (Defence Forces). Unfortunately, the conflict escalated and yesterday the verbal and psychological confrontation reached physical aggression. The facts from yesterday all not all clear yet. However, many consider that the Hungarian government should increase the efforts to cope with these violent tensions. In this sense, activist are organizing a protest to demand that police intervenes to guarantee the peace and security of all the Roma from Gyöngyöspata. The protests will take place today from 18 to 21 hrs in front of the Ministry of Interior, located at Roosevelt tér, József Attila utca 2.
